In this chapter you learned about VSTO 2005 SE, a new add-on for Visual Studio that enables you to create add-ins for many applications in the 2003 and 2007 releases of the Microsoft Office System. You learned how to customize the new UI features of the 2007 release of Office by creating your own Ribbon tab and adding groups of controls to existing tabs. You also saw how to repurpose existing Office commands and button icons, as well as how to add your own custom bitmap to a Ribbon control. You ended your Ribbon journey with a look at how to customize the Ribbon on Outlook Inspectors, and then you looked at the new Custom task pane. You saw how easy it is to add a custom task pane, which is available to any document that you open, and you learned how to convert a VSTO document-level customization to a VSTO 2005 SE add-in. Finally, you learned how to create an Outlook form region.
