Outlook Addin Project

An Outlook add-in project is created for you whenever you create a new Outlook add-in solution with VSTO. By default, the project contains one file, the ThisApplication.vb code file. This file contains the ThisApplication class, as shown in Figure 10.4. This code file is a partial class where you will write most of the code for your solution; a corresponding hidden partial class file (ThisApplication.Designer.vb) becomes visible when you click Show All Files on the Solution Explorer toolbar. Figure 10.5 shows this file and some of the auto-generated code it contains.

You should not make any modifications to this hidden partial class, because the file is regenerated and your changes will most likely be lost. You can learn more about these partial classes in Chapter 3.
