Creating a Visual Studio Tools for Office Project

Before diving into the various windows in the Visual Studio IDE, let's first create a VSTO project and examine the integrated development environment.

1. Open Visual Studio.

2. Click the File menu, point to New, and click Project.

3. In the New Project dialog box, expand the Visual Basic node and click Office.

4. In the Templates pane of the New Project dialog, select Excel Workbook, leaving the default Name and Location, and then click OK, as shown in Figure 2.3.

5. In the Visual Studio Project Wizard, select Create a New Document, as shown in Figure 2.4, and then click OK.
