Creating a Custom Form Region

Outlook form regions, a new feature of Outlook 2007, allow you to create a form that appears within an Outlook Inspector. In the past you added or changed Inspectors' functionality by changing the Inspectors. Now you can use form regions. You add a form region to an Inspector so that it is adjoining (at the bottom of the form), separate (on a separate page), or replaces the default form, or default page.

In this section you will create an Outlook form region using VSTO 2005 SE. The first step is to create the form region file, a binary file that has the extension .ofs. The only way to create an .ofs file is to use the Visual Form Designer built into Outlook.
