Make a Backup Copy of the Product Idea Form

Before you republish the form, It's a good Idea to make a backup copy of the modified form. To make a backup copy of the Product Idea form

1. With the form open, click Save As on the File menu.

2. In the Save In drop-down list box, select the default Outlook template folder.

3. In the File Name text box, double-click on Product Idea.

4. In the Save As Type drop-down list box, select Outlook Template.

5. Click Save.

6. Select Yes to replace the existing file.

Republish the Product Idea Form To republish the form

1. On the Tools menu, select Forms and then click Publish Form As.

2. In the window with the list of published forms, double-click Product Idea.

3. If you are prompted to replace the existing form, click Yes.

4. Close the Product Idea form. Click No to save changes. Click Yes If you want a backup draft saved to the current folder. Set the Actions for the Product Idea Response Form

Now open the Product Idea Response form and create a new Product Idea Response action so that users can respond to a Product Idea Response Item. In effect, users can create a response to a response by opening another Instance of the Product Idea Response form. When you create the new action, the Product Idea Response button Is added to the form when a posted Product Idea Response Item is opened In the Product Ideas folder, as shown In Figure 4-19.

Open the Product Idea Response Form

To create a new action for the Product Idea Response form, you first open the form In Run mode, and then switch to Design mode so that you can add the new actions to the form. Note that the Product Ideas folder must be open for the New Product Idea Response command to appear on the Actions menu.

To open the Product Idea Response form in Design mode

1. On the Outlook Actions menu, hold down the Shift key and click New Product Idea Response.

2. On the Tools menu of the Product Idea form, select Forms and then click Design This Form. Make the Reply To Folder Action Unavailable

Just as you made the Reply To Folder action unavailable for the Product Idea form, you make it unavailable for the Product Idea Response form. To make the Reply To Folder action unavailable

1. On the Product Idea Response form, click the Actions tab.

2. Double-click the Reply To Folder action.

3. Clear the Enabled check box, and then click OK. Create a New Action

Now create a new action that causes the Product Idea Response button to appear on the Product Idea Response form when the user opens a posted Product Idea Response item.

To create a new action

1. On the Product Idea Response form, click the Actions tab.

3. In the Action Name text box, type Product Idea Response.

4. In the Form Name drop-down list box, click Product Idea Response.

5. In the Address Form Like A drop-down list box, click Reply To Folder and then click OK.

Make a Backup Copy of the Product Idea Response Form

1. With the form open, click Save As on the File menu.

2. In the Save In drop-down list box, select the default Outlook template folder.

3. In the File Name drop-down list box, double-click on Product Idea Response.

4. In the Save As Type drop-down list box, select Outlook Template.

5. Click Save.

6. Select Yes to replace the existing file.

Publish the Product Idea Response Form To publish the Product Idea Response form

1. On the Tools menu, select Forms and then click Publish Forms As.

2. Double-click Product Idea Response in the forms window.

3. Close the Product Idea Response form. Close the form, and select No In the Save Changes message box.

Create the Product Category View

Custom views organize information in folders so that the information is meaningful and can be analyzed more quickly. For example, take a look at the Messages view in Figure 4-20. In this view, items are listed chronologically according to the order in which they were posted in the folder. With this flat presentation of information, you would never know that discussions are taking place within the folder.

Now take a look at the same information in Figure 4-21. With the custom Product Category view applied to the folder, items are grouped first by the Product Category fieldand then by the Conversation field. In addition, each item in a conversation group is sorted by the Conversation Index field, so you can see the history of responses to each item.
