This chapter introduced you to some important basics of programming; including variables, data types, and constants. I placed particular emphasis on the most common data types: numbers and strings. I also took a look at programming modules in VBA and their effect on the scope of a variable. Finally, I discussed several functions used to manipulate values of type string and date.
In Chapter 3, I will take a more in-depth look at VBA modules and procedures. Then, I will examine some more basic programming constructs with conditional operators and decision structures.
