Adding User Personalization to Your Application

In MOST APPLICATIONS YOU usually need to remember user settings or other configurable values between uses of the application. Old-school Windows applications used initialization files (*.INI files); modern Windows applications use the system registry and web-based applications to store this kind of information either in a database on the server or as cookies on the user's computer.

For Excel-based applications, these methods aren't usually needed. In this chapter, you'll get some valuable practice creating classes that can be used to remember user preferences and other configurable values.
